MEET THE TEAM

Kayla began her grooming career over 10 years ago after graduating from grooming academy with PetSmart. She opened Bark Haven out of her home in 2023, in 2025 she bought a bigger space off the highway in the residential area of Underwood IA.

She especially enjoys educating pet parents on coat care so their pups can look and feel their best between appointments.

  Nate is the proud co-owner of Bark Haven, working alongside his wife, Kayla, and supporting the business behind the scenes. He also owns High Caliber Computer Systems, specializing in IT, automation, and security solutions.

  Laura has been a senior groomer since 2021, bringing her experience, skill, and love for dogs to the Bark Haven team. She’s passionate about helping every pup look and feel their best, whether it’s a full groom or a fresh, bubbly bath.

 Nichole brings over a decade of grooming experience to Bark Haven, along with a genuine love for dogs and a warm, welcoming personality. Golden Retrievers hold a special place in her heart.

Fun fact: Nichole, Kayla, & Shelbie go way back, having first worked together at PetSmart when Kayla (Bark Haven's owner) was fresh out of grooming academy.

 Brookelynn is a graduate of IWCC, where she earned her A.K.C. Professional Grooming Credential. With a lifelong love for animals, she enjoys grooming dogs of all sizes, breeds, and coat types—especially Doodles!

   Shelbie has been part of the Bark Haven team since 2024. With experience as a veterinary assistant and technician, she brings valuable knowledge, calm confidence, and compassionate care to every pup she works with. Shelbie is passionate about helping every dog feel safe, comfortable, and loved. 

 Macy joins us as a bather & grooming assistant and soon beginning her journey toward learning the art of professional grooming. She’s loving the hands-on experience that comes with working with dogs every day, especially getting to meet new breeds, learn their different personalities, and spend her days surrounded by plenty of friendly faces and wagging tails.

She’s excited to continue learning, develop her grooming skills, and see where her new career at Bark Haven takes her.

 Allison is a busy college student with a love for animals and the outdoors. She is entering her junior year at Wartburg College, studying Pre-Nursing Biology with a minor in Psychology while playing soccer. You may see Allison around Bark Haven during the Summer months or holiday seasons!

Adalia is a true animal lover with a natural gift for caring for them. She’s already proven to be a quick learner and a gentle, patient presence among the dogs at Bark Haven.
